I’m Alexandra, a Romanian interpreter living in Bucharest. I started working as an interpreter in 2000, immediately after graduating from University, the Interpreting department. I always knew I would become an interpreter, already when I was 12 and people were asking me what do you want to become when you grow up. Although at first I did not know much about the profession, I worked towards achieving this goal and I couldn’t have been happier with my career choice.
My working days are never the same, and this is what I love about this profession. Sometimes I work from home and need to make all the technical preparations for remote work, while some other times I have to travel abroad or to various locations in town. Because of this diversity, I never get bored.
My best friends are also interpreters, so we have our own community where we exchange and have each other’s back.
I could not see myself doing any other profession, as being an interpreter is fulfilling and rewarding on all levels. Being able to bridge cultural divides, connect people and promote mutual understanding are the reasons which keep me going even after 25 years.

She interprets from English and French into Romanian and from Romanian into English.
